Welcoming New Employees through
Induction Program
An employees’ first impression regarding an
organization have a significant impact on their integration within the
Organization. Mostly, starting a new job becomes stressful
experience and newly recruited employees need to feel comfortable in their new
work environment and it enables to become more productive as possible over a
short period. Induction is considered as a great opportunity for an organization
to welcome new recruits, to make them feel at home, valued and generate a
feeling of belongingness to the organization.
What is an Induction?
As defined in Armstrong’s handbook (Armstrong, 2014) “Induction is the process of receiving and welcoming employees when they first join a company and giving them the basic information they need to settle down quickly and happily and start work.” Simply, the process of induction support new employees to adjust to their new roles and work environments. According to the (Armstrong, 2012) the induction process can be conducted as Organizations, departments, work place, and as on the job training.

To find the ways around workplace.
- To meet immediate colleagues and to identify the support to carry
out duties.
- To remove fear, shyness, hesitation and to develop confidence.
- To understand rules, regulations, policies, procedures, terms and
conditions of the employment.
- To understand the job role, key responsibilities and to fit for the
department/ unit/ work team.
A little effort from the management team of the
Organization and a well-planned induction programe awards no of benefits to the
organization as well as new employees with the achievement of established
objectives of the induction program.

Conclusion
Induction is considered as an important part of a
company’s human resource practices. Induction is the process of familiarizing
new employees with the organization and job role. Flexible, interesting and
employee centered induction program creates an overall good impression
regarding the organization. It enable new employees to adapt to the new work
environment and sense of belongings and awards number of benefits to new
employees as well as the Organization.

ReplyDeleteYes.The purpose of an induction program is to help employees settle into their position at a new company, business or organisation. the process of integrating newcomers into the existing group of people by welcoming, introducing, and socializing them. It's also known as an orientation program. It is carried out in order to make new employees feel at ease in their new workplace as well as with his senior employees.It must be said that this process is going well in many private institutions in Sri Lanka and specially in the banking sector.
